Newsletter Ensemble Megaphon, October 2018
Dear friends of our ensemble,
In October there will be two opportunities for a reunion: As part of a silent film concert series, organised by Vlady Bystrov and the Cultural Institute of the City of Braunschweig, we will be performing on 12 October as part of the ensemble "Die Braunschweiger Solisten". Under the title Kaleidoscope Symphonique we will accompany an elaborate collage of historical film and photo footage with salon music and works by composers from Braunschweig during the Weimar Republic. These were collected and edited by filmmaker Thomas Bartels together with students from the HBK's film class. On this evening, for the first time, 16mm films and 35mm slides will be projected onto the screen side by side and on top of each other with ten projectors, merging with the compositions in an improvised duet to create a multimedia event. So let us catapult you back one hundred years in the time stream!
And then we would like to take you on a poetic-mystical journey through space, time and cultures in the beautiful St. Clemens Basilica. On 27 October celebrates there our project LIFELINES Premiere and sets the 300-year-old unique dome of the basilica vibrating with floating light projections and mystical sounds. The evening spans a wide range from Hildegard von Bingen's mystical chants from the 12th century to traditional Arabic Sufi music, improvisations and today's music.
We are delighted that LEBENSLINIEN will be part of the programme of the HANNOVERSCHEN INCLUSIVE SOUND FESTIVALS (HIS) which invites you to 9 major events with over 350 artistic participants at central cultural venues in Hanover from 14 October to 3 November.
