Newsletter Ensemble Megaphon, End of Year 2018
Dear friends,
As the year draws to a close, so does perhaps the most eventful and active year of our ensemble.
With our premiere TIN PIT - in the nowhere of a strange city we took you to Damascus before the war, rich in history. Alongside director and author Wasim Ghrioui, we ourselves got to know and appreciate many artists from Syria through our joint work and at the numerous guest performances in Berlin, Göttingen, Hildesheim and Braunschweig.
As part of the Klangbrücken festival at the Hanover State Opera, we worked for the first time with composer William Engelen and layered his graphic compositions in Please play it again Lenka in playful sequences in picture and sound on top of each other.
The last major project of this year was with LIFELINES a rush of light, sounds and movement through the domed vault of St. Clement's Basilica. We ourselves were enchanted by the poetry from all the elements and the mysticism of the interweaving harmonies of Arabic Sufi music and Hildegard von Bingen's chants from the 12th century. A fitting mood for the coming Christmas days and the decelerated time "between the years".
We thank you and all of you for so much encouragement, support, loyalty and support for many more projects, cooperations, performances and our accompanying educational work.
We wish you peaceful holidays and a healthy, culturally rich new year and look forward to you and yours and a 2019 with many new ideas, lots of new music and new and familiar encounters.
Sincerely
Your
Lenka Zupkova
