Tiziana Bertoncini and Thomas Lehn

TIZIANA BERTONCINI and THOMAS LEHN share an interest in an expanded concept of new music that integrates improvisation, composition, interpretation and performance in equal measure in their artistic work - this endeavour forms the basis of their collaboration. A salient feature of their music is the sonic alchemy produced by the clash of the classical-acoustic and the electronic instrument: At first glance, the different characteristics of the violin and the synthesizer suggest a frictionless meeting of two fundamentally different worlds of sound. What can actually be experienced, however, is a kind of sonic hall of mirrors in which the roles of the instruments are continuously exchanged. Bertoncini and Lehn move in abstract, contemporary territories. Nevertheless, their music is also classical in the sense that it is formed and carried with the means of tension-relaxation, with breaks, intensity and expressiveness and all their facets.

We wish you a sunny week and look forward to seeing you at our next event in 2015.
