Ensemble Megaphon: Not to be pigeonholed!<\/h2>\n

Ensemble Megaphon is an international artists\u2019 collective, founded in 2007 by the Czech violinist Lenka \u017dupkov\u00e1. The ensemble\u2019s musical language combines contemporary music, early music and free jazz with conceptual improvisation and live electronics, enhanced by elements of musical theatre and media. The interplay of different musical styles and art forms \u2013 including dance, drama and the visual arts \u2013 gives rise to new and surprising perspectives.<\/p>\n

Concert design and experience<\/h2>\n

The artists at Megaphon create productions for spaces, locations and situations. Whether in theatres, in public spaces or at unusual venues \u2013 their productions combine sound, movement, light and video to create immersive, holistic experiences. Through sound and lighting design, movement and visual art, they transform the acoustic and architectural space.<\/p>\n

Experimental formats and participatory approaches invite the audience not only to listen, but also to become an active part of the event. Conversations between the audience and the ensemble also open up space for exchange and new perspectives. The result is an open, lively art format in which hearing, seeing and experiencing are combined in a sensual way.<\/p>\n

Focus on the environment and society<\/h2>\n

A central concern of the ensemble is the artistic exploration of current issues. Questions about the environment, ecology and social coexistence are at the centre of many projects. Megaphon uses the multi-layered possibilities of music theatre to make complex relationships tangible and provide food for thought.<\/p>\n

Collaboration with composers<\/h2>\nThe Ensemble Megaphon regularly works with composers such as: A. Schl\u00fcnz, S. Nesic, B. K\u00f6nig, H. Tulve, K.Reese, J.Hodkinson, G.Eckert, J.G.Stastny, M.Eggert, T. Prelevic, D. Morreira, Ch.Seither, E. Ebrahimi, V. Globokar and many more, and regularly commissions compositions from young composers.
\nMore than 80 works have been written and premiered for the ensemble to date.\n

Music mediation and community music<\/h2>\n

Another focus is on the Mediation work<\/a>. In co-operation with schools, music schools and choirs, projects are created that introduce people of all ages to music. The idea of participation is particularly important here: In the amateur ensemble \u201eSound experience\u201c<\/a> Since 2022, people with an interest in music have been coming together to make music \u2013 regardless of their previous experience.<\/p>\n

Organisation and promotion<\/h2>\n

The ensemble is organised by the Verein Blickpunkte e.V.<\/a> supported. Since 2019, Ensemble Megaphon has received institutional funding from the City of Hanover and the Hanover Cultural Office.<\/p>\n
