Those who carry this silence within them can calmly face the loud demands from outside.\"<br \/>\n<\/em>Yehudi Menuhin\n<em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\"<\/em><em>Silence all around -<br \/>\npenetrating the rocks<br \/>\nCicada voice\"<br \/>\n<\/em>Matsuo Bash\u00f4<br \/>\nJapanese poet (1644 - 1694)\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Content<\/h2>\n<p>The performance moves in the border areas <strong>between sound and silence <\/strong>with the aim of feeling, hearing and perceiving silence in music. It is a venture and an attempt to make the various facets of silence tangible and to experience silence as an aesthetic, contemplative, but also political place.<\/p>\n<p>The compositions and sounds oscillate between music and silence, classical and modern, noise and melody, notation and improvisation. In order to explore and deepen sensory perception, some pieces are played twice in a concert dramaturgy: first the audience listens with their eyes open, later with their eyes closed. To intensify this experience, we immerse the room in a soft, dimmed light in a lighting control centre. The musicians are positioned between the audience and make music in the midst of the listeners. This allows visitors to experience sounds and tones from close up. They can hear the sound of the bow or the inhalation of the clarinet and perceive them more clearly.<\/p>\nThe aim of the concert experience is to sharpen the ears and senses, to perceive silence as a \"valuable\" window of time and to experience how important silence is for music and life as a whole.<br \/>\nThe programme includes works by J. Cage, G. Kurtag and M. Feldman. The second part will feature works by musicians who become composers themselves.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n<p><strong>Participation of the audience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The audience forms an important part of the performance. They are encouraged to participate and are included in the concert. Based on the graphic notation \"Paper Music\" by Ben Patterson and their own concepts for the haiku poems, the musicians work together with the audience to create versatile sound collages. They use various types of paper - in different thicknesses and densities - as well as pebbles and everyday objects, which are distributed to the audience before the concert.
